Close at Hand
Inspired by a picture of skeletons moshing at a death metal concert, a line of text from Samuel Beckett, and the Hall and Oates song “You make my dreams come true”, Close at Hand is filled with games, songs, and improvised monologues, all rooted in the question, "what was your first experience of death?"
Created by: Tanya Podlozniuk & Tanya Marquardt (Performers), Caroline Liffmann (Director), Billy Marchenski (Dramaturg) with Sound Design by Hebegebe & Lee Hutzulak and Lighting Design by Kyla Gardiner
Close at Hand was first created for Here Be Monsters’ Theatre under the Gun. Generously supported by the British Columbia Arts Council, and commissioned and presented by Theatre Conspiracy and the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival in January 2011 for Club PuSh.
